Reflection #9

So in honor of Cinco de Mayo, my friend and I went to a Mexican restaurant and loaded up on arroz con pollo, refried beans, enchiladas, and chips and salsa! Although the food was amazing and well worth it, we did not go just for the food. Taking Multicultural education this semester taught me that in order to really learn a culture it is important to constantly observe! Well that is what I did last night. We were there for about two hours and had alot of fun. The Hispanic culture is so friendly and family oriented. They take pride in who they are and what they do. Compared to me as an American. I feel like they are so much more appreciative for what they receive and have. It was a good observing experience. It was also fun to be apart of the Mexican song and dance while we were eating as well. I am looking forward as a teacher to learn and interact with students from other cultures!
